BIODANCE TO PERFORM BENEFIT CONCERT FOR HAITI AT MuCCC
Interactive family matinee provides cultural experience while providing insight on modern dance
ROCHESTER, N.Y. – BIODANCE, a non-profit modern dance company, in collaboration with Multi-use Community Cultural Center (MuCCC), will present a benefit concert for Haiti. The concert is the second performance of Bright, Bounding, Balancing, Bursting, Bumping, Breathing Bodies: BIODANCE!, an upbeat family matinee that shares tools and tricks used to create the dances and foster dance literacy and appreciation.
The Multi-Use Community Cultural Center in Rochester will host the concert on SUNDAY, February 28 th at 3pm. The performance will encourage the audience to engage and participate in dances while exposing them to dance as a form of communication. BIODANCE will feature pieces choreographed by Missy Pfohl Smith such as On the Surface to the music of Mozart played live by Mark Olivieri, a preview of a new work in progress, and Replay with music by Marc Mellits. Live dance and music improvisation with the audience will return by popular demand.
“Beautiful connected movement – all the elements I love in dance,” said an audience member after the last performance. Another young audience member shared, “I liked this. I liked getting to go up on the stage, I liked dancing in my seat!” (Mia, age 3).
Children ages 3-99 are encouraged to participate in this arts adventure that explores dance, culture, music, and expression. Tickets have a suggested donation of $5 for children, students and seniors while adult tickets have a suggested donation of $10.
