AGNES OF GOD
by John Pielmeier
Directed by Spencer Christiano
Produced by special arrangement with Samuel French, Inc.
A gripping investigation into a horrifying scandal and the complex nature of faith. Summoned to a convent, a court-appointed psychiatrist is charged with assessing the sanity of a young novitiate accused of murdering her newborn. Eager to shed light on the mystery (and in doing so, her own cryptic past), she engages in a treacherous battle of science versus faith with the convent’s Mother Superior, who is intent on protecting the girl at all costs – A girl who could be deceptive, delusional, or a living miracle.
Inspired by actual events that took place in Brighton, NY in 1976, AGNES OF GOD is an exciting production for both the faithful and the faithless. Performed in a highly intimate setting, the play invites the audience to reflect on their own beliefs in comparison to the characters’ and ensures that each spectator has their own unique experience. Certain to keep audiences talking and pondering long after they leave the theater, AGNES OF GOD is a play that can’t be missed.
AGNES OF GOD contains strong language and adult situations. Viewer discretion is advised.
